Do you have a reservation at the Bug Hotel?

I had two spikes in the side of my deck that were driving me crazy. They protruded but could not come out or be banged in. My solution was a bug hotel. I got two clay pots with holes on the bottom and worked them around the spike until the it fit snugly through the hole. In the right hand photo you can see the spike just above the bee tubes. These bee tubes will be for the solitary bees that fill my garden in the summer. The pine cones will attract the lady bugs with other insects residing in the other assorted dried organic debris.
